A dynasty is a series of rulers from the same family, where leadership is passed down from one generation to the next. Dynasties often maintain power through inheritance, establishing a long-lasting family legacy in governance.

In the ancient world, dynasties were common in empires and kingdoms, helping maintain continuity and stability over time.

The Julio-Claudian Dynasty was the first imperial dynasty of Rome, beginning with Augustus (27 BC – AD 14) and including Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, and Nero. This dynasty, which lasted until AD 68, saw the establishment and consolidation of the Roman Empire’s power but also faced significant political intrigue and controversy.
