History is the study of the past and the process by which we attempt to understand and interpret past events. It involves analyzing evidence, understanding context, and constructing narratives that explain how and why things happened.

History is both a body of knowledge and a method of inquiry, requiring critical thinking and an awareness of bias. Historians strive to present accurate and meaningful interpretations of the past, but these interpretations are always subject to revision as new evidence and perspectives emerge.

The history of the Roman Empire includes studying its political structure, cultural achievements, military conquests, and eventual decline.
